How To Apply
New York State WIC Program Vendor Selection and Enrollment
Vendor Management Agencies (VMAs) must ensure that WIC vendors are accessible and convenient to participants and can be effectively managed. Therefore, VMAs must authorize an appropriate number and distribution of food vendors. All vendors must meet the vendor application enrollment criteria set forth in:
Submission of an application package does not guarantee that an application will be approved. To be complete, an application package must contain all required documents, all required information, and the signed application. If an application is incomplete, you will be notified by email and United States Postal Services mail. If a vendor applicant does not meet authorization criteria, the application will be denied and you will be notified.
Vendor Training: You (or a representative) will be required to attend an interactive vendor training class even if you (or a representative) recently attended a vendor training class, in order to authorize a new store. Your VMA will designate the date, time, and location of the vendor training class. You will receive a letter confirming the date, time, and location of the vendor training class. All vendor training classes are conducted in the English language. Failure to attend the training session may result in denial of the application.
Vendor Background Check: All vendor applicants must undergo a background check related to business integrity. Failure to pass the background check may result in denial of the application.
On-Site Inspections: All store locations will be required to undergo an on-site inspection to verify the store complies with all WIC regulations. Failure to pass the on-site inspection may result in denial of the application.
The NYS WIC program authorizes only two categories of stores: Grocery Stores and Pharmacies.
