About The NYS WIC Vendor Management Team
The Vendor Management Team is responsible for the oversight and authorization of Vendors in New York State. Four Vendor Management Agencies (VMAs) located in different geographic service areas throughout New York State are responsible for assisting NYS DOH in managing the retail food delivery system, which is a critical component of the WIC Program.
WIC VMAs ensure an adequate number of vendors (retail food stores and pharmacies) are authorized for convenient participant access to obtain prescribed WIC foods. The WIC VMAs are also responsible for conducting all activities related to the oversight and management of the vendors including application processing, authorization, monitoring, and training to ensure compliance with USDA and State requirements. WIC VMAs enter into contracts with vendors. These contracts may be reauthorized every three years.
The Vendor Team provides technical assistance regarding the authorization process, Vendor Contracts, and WIC benefit redemptions. The Vendor Team works to ensures that healthy foods are available for WIC clients throughout the state.
